Múr, an Icelandic metal band, formed in 2018 and plays a blend of progressive metal and post-metal. The group’s core members—vocalist and keyboardist Kári Haraldsson and guitarists Hilmir Árnason and Jón Ísak Ragnarsson—had known each other since school, first playing cover songs together in a garage. After studying jazz at a music school, they met drummer Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson and bassist Ívar Andri Klausen, completing the lineup. In 2021, Múr won the Icelandic round of the Wacken Metal Battle competition and placed fourth in the international finals. On September 18, 2024, they released their debut single, “Heimsslit,” followed by “Frelsari” in October. That same month, they announced a signing with Century Media Records and plans for a self-titled debut album. A third single, “Holskefla,” arrived on November 13, and the album—described as post-metal and progressive metal—was released on November 22, 2024, through Century Media.

Prior to the formation of Múr, future members Kári Haraldsson and guitarists Hilmir Árnason and Jón Ísak Ragnarsson, whom Kári had known since school, played cover versions of their favorite songs in a garage. Later, they entered a music school where they studied jazz music and met drummer Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson and bassist Ívar Andri Klausen. The artists organized Múr in 2018.
In 2021, the band participated in the metal band competition Wacken Metal Battle, finishing first in Iceland and fourth at the international stage. On 18 September 2024, Múr released their debut single 'Heimsslit'. The following month, they released a second single 'Frelsari' and announced they had signed with Century Media Records, as well as announcing their self-titled debut album.
